  • The History of ecoDMS

  • 2004

    The roots of ecoDMS go back to 2004. At that time, Michael Schmitz and Helge Lühmann developed a digital incoming mail workflow for a major client project at applord GmbH. This resulted in the first ecoDMS Server and thus the foundation for today's document management system.

  • 2014

    In October 2014, Michael and Helge founded ecoDMS GmbH in Aachen as an independent company within the applord group of companies. The original development was thus transformed into a standalone product designed to make digital archiving and document management specifically accessible for SMEs and private users.

  • 2024

    Since October 2024, Thomas Uber and Benedikt Weber have been leading ecoDMS GmbH as Managing Directors. They continue the founders' successful work and give the company new impulses in the areas of innovation, continuity, and sustainable growth.

  • Looking to the Future

    Today, more than 13,000 business customers and around 12,000 private customers trust the solutions from ecoDMS. For the future, the focus is on the further development of products, particularly artificial intelligence and intelligent automation, to make document processes even more efficient.
